Email is one of the most used forms ways of communication, especially now due to COVID. Writing emails to co-workers and potential clients is a way to develop the relationship that you have with each other. You can either create a great first impression or a bad one just based off of what your write in an email. Below are some important things to consider when starting off an email to someone.
How to Start an Email

- Spell Names Correctly. One of the biggest ways to make a bad first impression is by spelling their names wrong. Make sure that not only are you spelling the name correct in the greeting, but also throughout the full email.
- Know Your Audience. Know who you are sending an email to. When you know someone, you may be able to keep things more laid back. If you are interacting with someone new, you may want to keep it more professional. Also, make sure that you consider if you are emailing more than just one person.
- Keep Things Professional. Do your best when you send an email to keep things as professional as possible. Do your best to not use a fun or funny greeting or use emojis.

- Reason for Writing
- Create a short, concise reason for why you are contacting someone. After your write this, you can go into more detail about why you are sending out an email.
