Ways to Calm Interview Jitters

 

Interviews can often be very scary and stressful. This leads to your nerves being high. You want to make sure that you do everything right. You want to say what they want to hear. You want to act in a way that shows that you are confident you your responses.

Here are some great ways to help you calm your interview jitters!

  • Practice. Practice. Practice. Prior to an interview, practice your responses to common interview questions. You can look up common interview questions online and think of ways to respond to them. If may also be helpful to have a friend or family member ask you some questions and you answer them .
  • Research. Prior to the interview, make sure you do research on the company. What types of products or services do they offer? Do they have more then one location? Where is their office located? Prepare yourself because they may ask you the question, “What do you know about the company?”
  • Attire. Make sure that you have planned out and tried on your outfit the night prior to the interview. Make sure you look professional. You want to make sure that you feel confident and comfortable in what you are wearing.
  • Travel time. Plan so that you have some extra travel time. You never know when you may run into traffic or there might be bad weather. Plan ahead and know where you are going.
  • Rest. Make sure that you get plenty of rest the night before an interview. Chances are that you will answer questions a lot better when your mind is fully rested.
  • Smile. Relax and smile. Smiling can you help to relax and it also gives a great first impression.
  • Concentrate. Concentrate on the questions that you are being asked. Try not to think about what they may be thinking of you or what you should have said.
