Now Hiring: MACHINIST

Our client in Glens Falls, is looking to add a Machinist to their team.

The Machinist will build and repair machine tooling in contract manufacturing operation. The Machinist will maintain and repairs production machinery, plant equipment and building systems. The Machinist will support manufacturing operations with tooling and equipment setup changes, routine and emergency repairs. Contributes significantly to design processes for tooling and mechanical/electrical systems.

This position will be first shift, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm and will pay between $20.00 – $25.00 per hour.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for performing only operations for which required training has been completed, as documented on the appropriate training matrix
  • Perform product inspections according to written procedures, using basic measurement equipment and visual aids.
  • Support manufacturing through call outs and work order log.
  • Operate all machine shop related equipment.
  • Measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workplace as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, fluid coolant flow, depth and angle of cut.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Confer with engineering and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work orders and corrective work orders.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Minimum five years experience and/or equivalent education as listed below:

  • Has industrial electrical experience including experience with P.C. Boards and SCR logic drives.
  • Familiar with three-phase distribution and industrial equipment such as motors, ovens, controllers, extruders and molding machines.
  • Familiar with electrical codes.
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with mechanical systems such as HVAC systems, compressed air and vacuum systems.
  • Capable of working independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to make decisions in compliance with accepted electrical and trades practice.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00 to $25.00 /hour
