Must Reads This Summer!

During quarantine, our team at Integrated Staffing has kept busy reading some amazing books that we would like to share with you.  You will notice that there is definitely a theme here.  We believe it so important to find various outlets to keep us motivated, energized, and sane during quarantine, particularly as we are heading into summer. Reading is a great way to keep your mind busy.  So, check out these must reads this summer!  They will make you smile; they will make you think, they will make you question, they will energize you, and they will ignite a change in you!

  • The Moth Presents All These Wonders foreword by Neil Gaiman (edited by Catherine Burns) – What a fantastic book to reading during this uncertain time. A book in which “honesty matters.   • The War of Art by Steven Pressfield – For an easy read, this is quite a powerful book that can change your life. Bestselling author, Steven Pressfield, does an amazing job examining the internal obstacles to success. If you are ‘stuck’ and need something inspirational to ignite a passion, a dream, an idea, or vision, you will learn to identify, defeat, and unlock the inner barriers to creativity and taking action to make it come to fruition.
  • The Art of Stopping Time by Pedram Shojai – Who knew to that the way to gain more time was actually to stop, be present, and dedicate time to specific activities? In this book, you will take a 100-day walk through your life that will change how you view your time, energy, money, relationships, and career. If you are too busy to be present and focused in your life or just looking for some interesting daily practices to keep you busy during quarantine, this is a must read.
  • So Good They Can’t Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love by Cal Newport – This brilliant book will really change the way you think of your own career, and the advice you might give others. It is a refreshingly different viewpoint on what goes into building a working life that you enjoy.  “Working right trumps finding the right work.”
  • The Coaching Habit Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever – by Michael Bungay Stanier – Excellent read for someone who manages a team whether at the office or at home. Michael Bungay offers practical, useful, and interesting questions, ideas and tools that will guide any leader to work less and have more impact.
  • The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff – Who doesn’t love Winnie-the-Pooh? Using witty dialogue with the beloved Pooh-bear and his companions, the author of this winning bestseller explains with ease that rather than being a distant and mysterious concept, Taoism is as near and practical to us. This book will take you through the enchanted world of Winnie-the-Pooh while soaking up invaluable lessons on simplicity and natural living.
  • Failing Up: How to Take Risks, Aim Higher, and Never Stop Learning by Leslie Odom, Jr – Great book for an adult and your tween.   • Go Get the Life You Want. Be a Rhinoceros! By Scott Alexander (foreword by Dave Ramsey) – This is the quickest read that is simple, direct, and provides the REAL secret of success: becoming a rhinoceros. Yes, the idea is intriguing, so go read it!
  • Becoming – By Michelle Obama. What a beautiful memoir of former United States first lady Michelle Obama, sharing her deepest moments, her roots, how she found her voice, as well as her time in the White House, her public health campaign, and her role as a mother.  This deep reflection is so mesmerizing that you will not be able to put this book down.
  • The Legend of the Monk and the Merchant: 12 Keys to Successful Living by Terry Felber (foreword by Dave Ramsey) – This book will change the way you see yourself, your job, and your purpose. If you are ready for change, a MUST read.
