Common Interview Mistakes

As you look into finding a new job opportunity, you are going to go to several interviews. Mistakes during the interview process are going to happen. Here are some common mistakes that people may make during an interview that you should try to avoid.

    1. Arriving too early to the interview. Try not to be more than 10 minutes early to your interview because the person who is interviewing you may be busy.
    2. Being rude to the receptionist. The receptionists are often the first person you see. Don’t forget that they are apart of the team and may have a say in the hiring process.
    3. Poor attitude. Having a poor attitude will not work in your favor. Complaining, whining, or arrogance will not help you get the job.
    4. Not expressing interest. Make sure before you leave the interview, you let them know how interested in the position you are. If you show no interest, they will probably choose another candidate for the role.
    5. Interupting. Make sure that you let the interviewer talk. Do not talk over them or interupt them when they are saying something.
    6. Failing to send a thank you note. Make sure that you send all of those involved with your interview a thank you note within 24 hours of your interview.
