Looking for a job may be difficult. Standing out from other candidates may be the difference from you getting the job or not. Here are some great tips that will help you to stand out from other candidates interviewing for the same job.

  • Proof read your resume. Make sure that you proof read your resume multiple times. Even have a friend or professor look at it. Employers typically will move onto the next candidate if they notice errors in a resume.
  • Research the company. Make sure that prior going to your interview, you research the company to know what products or services that they provide.
  • Prepare for your interview. Practice answering questions that are typically asked during an interview. Looking up typical interview questions can be very helpful.
  • Dress to impress. Make sure that you dress professionally when you go to your interview.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset. Show the company how you can help grow their company. Provide ways that you have helped a company grow in the past and ways that you may be able to help their company grow.
  • Arrive early to the interview. Be there early to help make sure that you know where you are going. This also helps to make sure that you can compose yourself prior to the interview.
  • Ask questions. Have a couple questions that you want to ask prior to going to the interview. This shows that you are engaged and interested in learning more about the company.
  • Move on from mistakes. If you make a mistake answering a question, don’t let that affect the rest of your interview. Mistakes are okay. Just move on and answer the next question.
  • Write a thank you note. After your interview, send a thank you note to the people who you interviewed with. This can either be an email or a handwritten letter sent in the mail.
