19 Apr 8 Job Interview Tips
Do you have an upcoming interview? Here are some great tips that Indeed.com has given to make yourself stand out from your competition:
- Research the Company: Make sure you know some information about the company prior to your interview. Knowing a little bit about the company can help prepare you for the interview and questions they may ask.
- Practice Answering Common Interview Questions: Interviewers typically ask you to tell you about yourself and why you are interested in the role you are applying to. Having an idea of how to answer this helps you to quickly give a background of your skills and sets the tone for your interview.
- Review the Job Description: Prior to the interview, review the job description so you know what the job entails and what questions may be asked.
- Arrive Early: Not too early! Make sure you plan on arriving at least 10-15 minutes prior to the interview so you can get ready for the interview. Give extra time if you don’t know where you are going and/or if there may be traffic or parking issues.
- Items to Bring: An updated resume along with a list of references are very important to bring with you. Depending on the job, you may also want to bring a sample of your previous work.
- Keep Your Answers Focused: Time for the interview may be limited. Be mindful of rambling and ensure your answer to the question.
- Prepare Questions to Ask: Before the interview, make sure you have questions prepared to ask the interviewer. Questions like asking what the next steps in the recruitment process will be and what a typical day looks like.
- Follow Up: Make sure you follow up with your interviewer. Send a thank you email or hand-written note thanking them for their time.
